He is forced into hiding with his Chinese servants. Nicholas, disguised as a local Chinese boy goes off with Tang and Ah Mee (his Chinese servants) to Tang's former home. Encountering many soldiers on the way. Nicholas, now as a local Chinese boy, starts a whole new life living with Tang and his relatives, still not forgetting the past. 

                                                                                                            The main characters are; Nicholas, Tang, Ah Mee, and Ah Kwan.
I like Nicholas because I feel that he is brave and strong, not letting his Chinese friends down he also has a kind heart that feels love for others. Tang, I feel is a naturally a strong leader, leading his friends and family to safety. Ah Mee, I feel is kindhearted and giving. She also tries to risk herself for her family members. Ah Kwan is strong, brave and accomplishes his tasks, also to risk himself for his friends.

The three most historical events that happened were; When the Japanese military soldiers approached Nicholas, The Japanese asking for food, the Japanese abuse Tang and Ah Mee. Each one was significant because each and every one of them has happened in real life.
